Description:

The third workshop will introduce GIS interoperability standards, with specific focus on the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI). The presentation will cover the benefits of working with CGDI standards through concrete examples and success stories. The session will present the groundwork for the CGDI strategic vision, “to enable access to the authoritative and comprehensive sources of Canadian geospatial information to support decision-making”, and its guiding principles.
The workshop will also provide and overview of the Geospatial Foundation for Public Health (GIRF), a GeoConnections initiative to lay the foundation specifically for the public health community to exploit geospatial information in decision making.

Who Should Attend?

Those interested in creating or establishing geospatial tools and datasets that could increase in value if they could only be shared with federal, provincial/territorial, municipal and / or international jurisdictions. The presentation will cover some technical aspects of the CGDI at a high level; however it is intended for those with even a casual interest in data / system interoperability and the CGDI.

System developers, GIS analysts, data analysts, project managers and stakeholders, and other champions / proponents of GIS will benefit from this session.
