Health in All Policies Roundtable

Date/Time: September 24, 2010 [PAST EVENT]
Location: 21 Old Mill Road, Toronto, ON

Description:

Health in All Policies (HiAP) is an innovative new approach to policy making that involves embedding health promotion, health equity and sustainability in policies throughout the government of Ontario. Ultimately, HiAP strives to make all provincial ministries considerate of, and accountable for, their potential impact on health and its underlying social determinants.

HiAP was the focus of a one-day roundtable sponsored by the Public Health Ontario (PHO) in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health Systems Strategy Division. The roundtable took place on Friday September 24th, 2010 at the Old Mill Inn and Spa (21 Old Mill Road, Toronto).

The purpose of this event was to increase awareness of HiAP through giving public health units and their community partners an opportunity to share their experiences with inter-sectoral collaborations focused on the reduction of health inequities and/or the development of healthy public policies at the local/regional level.

The roundtable featured a mix of speakers, presentations from health units that are actively engaged in inter-sectoral collaboration to reduce health inequities and/or build healthy public policies and small group work focused on the application of a critical analysis reference tool (CART) to case studies illustrating health equity and policy development.
