Risk Assessment and Reprocessing – To Do or Not To Do That is the Question!

•       To review some Risk Assessment Reprocessing questions to consider in order to decide to reprocess or use a single use sterile medical devices.
•       To provide an overview of guidelines available to guide safe practice in reprocessing.
•       This Lunch and Learn is for those settings that do not have designated trained reprocessing staff and departments.

Audience:
Infection Control Professionals, Health Care Professionals in Acute, Long-term, and Community Care, Occupational Health and Safety, and Public Health Professionals.

Presenter(s): Karen Clinker
Karen graduated from nursing at Lakehead University in 1977. She moved to Alberta and spent 27 years as the manager of Occupational Health and Safety under the Alberta Mental Health Board. She completed her Masters degree in Adult education at the University of Alberta in 1990.
Karen began full-time focus in Infection Control in 2004 with the David Thompson Health Region, and obtained her initial Certification in Infection Control in September 2005. Since 2006 Karen has been the Infection Control Consultant for the Northwestern Ontario Infection Control Network.
She is currently in her second term as the Director of Programs and Projects for CHICA Canada.
