Description:

Impact of mandatory hospital reporting of C.difficile rates in Ontario
The presentation will address the burden of C.difficile disease in Ontario and explore the theoretical means by which public reporting can impact hospital quality of care and the evidence base (or lack thereof) that public reporting can impact hospital acquired infection rates.  Additionally, the presenter will provide a longitudinal population-based analysis of the impact of mandatory hospital reporting of C.difficile infections in Ontario.

Presenter: Nick Daneman

Nick Daneman is a clinician scientist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an adjunct scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. His research interests involve the prediction, prevention and optimized management of hospital-acquired infections, using hospital and population-based data sources. His research program includes work related to antibiotic stewardship, C.difficile colitis, surgical site infections, and critical-care related infections.
