The PHL has published a revised edition of the Public Health Inspector's Guide to the Principles and Practices of Environmental Microbiology. The Guide is intended to assist Ontario Public Health Inspectors in the informed use of public health laboratory services for environmental microbiological testing. The Listeriosis outbreak in 2008 highlighted the need for greater clarity on the use and interpretation of microbiological laboratory services available for the support of foodborne outbreak investigations. OAHPP medical microbiologist Dr. Vanessa Allen is presenting this information at the March 1-2 Foodborne Diseases Investigation and Management:An Ontario Symposium. OAHPP is a co-sponsor of the event.
