The fourth and final workshop session will introduce some advanced topics in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for those with an interest in GIS tool development. This workshop will introduce specific technologies and approaches that can jumpstart and enhance the GIS system development process.
The past decade has been characterized by an intense growth in mapping applications, greatly increasing our ‘spatial literacy’. Web mapping applications have proliferated to a point where the general public is increasingly comfortable looking at map-based tools, including thematic mapping tools that relate information from a variety of sources to geographic location. Our fourth workshop is designed to cover the following topics:
- Tips & techniques for liberating GIS from the desktop
- Tools for web-enabling your GIS
- Approaches for sharing spatial data with a wide audience
- Examples from the Public Health domain
- Pros and cons of various approaches
Who Should Attend?
This session will be more technical in nature than the previous sessions and is intended for system developers, analysts, project managers, and those who are interested in the development of geospatial tools and applications. |
