Local Public Health Units have a mandate to work with healthcare settings in the control of outbreaks of reportable diseases. Through a series of case Études, Présentations, discussion panels and other methods the workshop:

•    Provided health units with additional tools to successfully manage outbreaks in healthcare settings
•    Increased the awareness in public health units regarding the work of PHO and the Ressources available to them

Presenters spoke about foundational aspects of outbreak investigations such as the roles of the coroner and laboratory outbreak coordinator, occupational health issues during outbreaks, principles of infection prevention and control, and lab testing. A panel will discussed challenges of outbreak management in different settings.
