During the H1N1 pandemic, Public Health Ontario has acted on its mandate to provide scientific and technical advice to those working to protect and promote the health of Ontarians. Support to the Chief Medical Officer of Health has included:
- Leading a Scientific Response Team that has provided several scientific studies and reports
- Testing an unprecedented number of specimens at Public Health Ontario Laboratories
- Synthesizing and analyzing test results for surveillance, epidemiology, clinical research and development of clinical guidelines
- Providing support for public information and media outreach and responses.
