Virtual Library

Virtual Library is a suite of bibliographic databases that index thousands of peer-reviewed scientific journals, many of which offer access to full text articles. The following databases are available in the Virtual Library:

  • Academic Search Premier
  • MEDLINE
  • CINAHL with Full Text
  • Health Business
  • Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive
  • Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection

The full text content which is packaged with these databases includes articles from core public health journals such as:

  • American Journal of Public Health
  • Annual Review of Public Health
  • Public Health Nursing
  • Public Health Reports
  • Journal of Infectious Diseases
  • Injury
  • Nicotine & Tobacco Research
  • Journal of School Health
  • Lancet
  • Nature
  • Science
  • Pediatrics

Access to Virtual Library is restricted to staffs from the Ontario public health units, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Public Health Division and Public Health Ontario.

This resource has been provided to the public health sector in the province by the MOHLTC Public Health Division since 2007. In November 2011, Public Health Ontario will assume full responsibility for Virtual Library.
